SUMMARY

Day 1: Transfer from Calama to San Pedro de Atacama and excursion to the Moon Valley.
Day 2: Cejar Lagoon + Ojos del Salar + Tebenquiche Lagoon.
Day 3: Rainbow Valley.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in San Pedro de Atacama and excursion to the Moon Valley.

Arrival in Calama and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama.

The Moon Valley is one of the most important points of the Cordillera de la Sal. We visit the main dune, the amphitheater, the three Marias, and the Coyote’s stone viewpoint (Kari). Finally, we wait for the sunset in front of the Andes Mountains, with a cocktail to enjoy.

Day 2: Cejar Lagoon + Ojos del Salar + Tebenquiche Lagoon.

Within the enclosure of Laguna Cejar, we can enjoy “Laguna Piedra”. A place that, with its high salinity, makes visitors float. Then, at Laguna Tebenquiche, we will be able to appreciate the Andean volcanoes reflected on this natural sanctuary. Finally, Ojos del Salar is a stop where we will appreciate two hills with a beautiful postcard of the Andes Mountains.

Day 3: Rainbow Valley.

The Rainbow Valley is located in the interior of the Domeyko Mountain Range. Situated 50 minutes northwest of San Pedro de Atacama. This excursion is a guided circuit through the Hierbas Buenas petroglyphs and the valley that will allow you to understand the scenic and historical richness of this area.

Day 4: Altiplanic Lagoons + Red Stones.

This route that goes through the south of San Pedro de Atacama, towards the border crossing Paso Sico. Our first stop will be for breakfast in a tamarugo forest. Then we continue to Red Stones (Piedras Rojas), where we will enjoy a trail to the closest point to the Salar de Aguas Calientes III, which is at the foot of the beautiful Piedras Rojas, creating a picturesque landscape. Before our next destination, we will have lunch and enjoy a privileged view of the Altiplano. Our next visit will be to the Altiplanic Lagoons. Where we will be able to walk at least two trails of regular access, to visit the Miscanti and Miñiques lagoons, with a privileged view of the volcanoes. We will also visit the Tropic of Capricorn and make a stop to appreciate the unique sights of this place.

Day 5: Tatio Geysers and Machuca

El Tatio is located 1.5 hours from San Pedro de Atacama. We will leave the town at dawn to see the maximum boiling point reached by the more than 80 active geysers found in this place. The largest geothermal field in the southern hemisphere, and one of the largest in the world. Afterwards, at the exit of the park we will stop in front of a wetland where we will be able to appreciate the typical fauna of the area, while we have breakfast. Then we will continue to the Putana wetland, where we will contemplate one of the active volcanoes in the area, the Putana volcano. Finally, we will stop at the Machuca wetland to visit flamingos before returning to town.

Day 6: Transfer to Calama Airport

A transfer will pick you up and take you to the Calama airport, according to your flight schedule.

Included: Transfer from San Pedro de Atacama to Calama Airport.

 

  • The order of the tours will be confirmed upon the passenger’s arrival at the Calama airport. The passenger will receive a summary of the itinerary with the tours and the corresponding schedules.

 

  • In case of eventualities such as sandstorms, wind gusts, park closures, snowstorms, rain, electrical storms, earthquakes, volcanic activity, floods, landslides, road closures, and river flooding, among others, that prevent the normal development of the activity, an alternative to the initial excursion will be offered.
