After enjoying an energizing breakfast at Factoría Hostel, you will begin the exciting journey to the Base of Torres del Paine. Early in the morning, you will head towards the National Park, making your way to the Reserva Cerro Paine, where the trail begins. Before starting the hike, the guide will provide key instructions and ensure the group is equipped with everything needed, including trekking poles and winter gear such as crampons and gaiters.

On this half-day excursion, you will explore stunning Patagonian landscapes while uncovering traces of the past. The journey begins in Puerto Natales, heading north toward the Archaeological Park of Estancia Ernesto Helmer, located approximately 25 km away. This park is home to unique geological formations and offers spectacular views of mountains, valleys, and condor nests. From the highest point of the excursion, you will enjoy panoramic views of the Eberhard Fjord, Señoret Channel, and Sofía Lagoon.
The region is renowned for its ancient archaeological remains, including cave paintings dating back approximately 3,500 years. We will visit the Cueva de la Ventana and Cueva Escondida, two significant rock art sites, where we will use headlamps to explore the impressive stalactites and geological formations created over thousands of years through mineral accumulation.
The adventure continues with a hike through dense forests, leading to the rock shelters known as “Dos Herraduras,” where we will observe more cave paintings on the walls of rocky structures that were once part of the ocean floor. These shelters provide a fascinating glimpse into the geological and human history of the region. At the end of the day, we will return to Puerto Natales after a unique experience combining nature, history, and culture.

We will stop at the Nordenskjöld Lookout, where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Paine Massif and Nordenskjöld Lake. Here, our guide will provide a geological overview of the landscape, explaining the formation of the surrounding mountains and glaciers.
Next, we will head to Salto Grande, an impressive waterfall connecting Nordenskjöld and Pehoé Lakes. From there, we will begin a two-hour hike (round trip) to the Los Cuernos Lookout. This trail leads to one of the park’s most iconic spots, where you can get up close to the famous Cuernos del Paine.
