ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival at Torres del Paine National Park - Hike to Serón

After breakfast at the hotel in Puerto Natales, you must request your box lunch and go to the bus terminal to take the 07:00 am bus (we recommend being at least 10 minutes before departure) to go to Torres del Paine National Park. The trip takes place in the middle of the Patagonian pampas, to reach Laguna Amarga, the main entrance to the park, and the place where you must register your entrance with CONAF (park rangers). You will transfer to “Transporte Las Torres”, who will take you to the Welcome Center, where the registration of passengers of the Cerro Paine Reserve takes place. Then you begin the hike to the Serón campsite.

Although it is considered one of the simplest hikes of the circuit, the trail to Serón offers many amazing landscapes of the untamed side of Torres del Paine National Park. You hike through a vibrant green carpet of trees, continuing along a pleasant slope that descends to an endless grassland on the Patagonian plain. Continuing along the relatively flat trail to the Seron campsite, you will see crystal clear streams. After settling into the campsite, you will have some time to enjoy the vastness of the terrain before dinner, which will be served in Serón’s small but cozy dining room.

Today is the start of a long hike through rolling hills and wet meadows into the interior of the park. Snow-capped mountains, pastel blue lakes and vast expanses of grasslands will be the backdrop as you explore the north side of the park, along with stunning and breathtaking views of the Dickson Glacier, Cerro Cuba and other rugged peaks that mark the border between Chile and Argentina. Once you arrive at the Dickson area, you check in and during the afternoon you can hike along the rocky shore of Dickson Lake, all before dinner at the refuge.

You will be able to feel the wind blowing through the bushes and hear the pleasant sound of Magellanic woodpeckers. Bordering the Los Perros River, you will go up a large moraine where you will be left breathless when you see another picturesque mountain as a backdrop, the wonderful Los Perros glacier and its blue-green lagoon. We continue along a rocky trail before arriving at Los Perros campsite, which will be our lodging for the night. It is recommended to rest, the next day will be long.

Day 4: Hike to Grey via John Garner Pass

Catch your breath and get ready for the most demanding day of the Paine circuit, but, at the same time, a very rewarding one. After an early breakfast at the quincho and ordering your box lunch, you will begin to make your way through gnarled tree roots and large mud puddles under the green canopy of the trees. Leaving the forest, you begin to ascend through worn and loose rocks (sometimes with snow) until you reach the highest point of the circuit, the famous John Garner Pass (1,200 m.a.s.l.). Enveloped by the strong Patagonian winds while you are impressed by the Southern Ice Fields and their wonderful shimmering carpet, the descent is made on the side of a giant ice wall and the trail continues through the El Paso campsite, where there is a park ranger outpost. Then, you cross the exciting suspension bridges before arriving at the Grey shelter for dinner and a well-deserved rest.

The hike continues until you reach Los Patos lagoon, where you start the descent through a narrow and windy valley that takes you directly to the Paine Grande refuge.

Day 6: Exploration of the French Valley

Start early in the morning for a full day of hiking into the heart of Torres del Paine National Park. After breakfast, order your box lunch and get ready for a day of Patagonian mountain scenery. Hike amidst arid landscapes and along the shores of the beautiful blue waters of Skottsberg Lake. After approximately 2.5 hours of hiking you will arrive at the Italian campsite, where the ascent to the valley begins.

Climb through the immense rocky terrain and follow the edge of the tree-lined ridge until you reach the French lookout, where you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Cuernos, turquoise glacial lagoons and wonderful hanging glaciers cascading down the east face of Cerro Paine Grande (3,050 m). If you are lucky, you will hear the roar of falling water and ice! It is also a point where avalanches are commonly observed. This is the ideal moment to take some pictures and enjoy a box lunch. Return along the same trail to the Italian campsite and then continue on to Domos Francés or Los Cuernos refuge. Relax in the afternoon and enjoy a delicious dinner at the refuge of your choice.

At an altitude of 900 m.a.s.l., marvel at the 3 granite towers (north, central and south) and the shimmering turquoise glacier lake at your feet. This is the ideal time to take pictures and enjoy your box lunch before returning along the same trail, now downhill, to the Central Tower Hut and the Welcome Center.
