Today’s hike will be a round trip, starting and ending at Paine Grande, Natales, a charming place that will serve as your base for exploring the area, so we recommend starting early! After breakfast, pick up your packed lunch and get ready for another day filled with stunning Patagonian scenery.

Hike to the heart of the park, along the blue waters of Lake Skottsberg. After about 2.5 hours of walking, you’ll arrive at the Italiano camp (park rangers), where you’ll begin your journey to the French Valley. Climb over large rocks and then continue through the forest until you reach the French viewpoint. Here, you’ll be rewarded with incredible views of Los Cuernos, turquoise glacial lagoons, and stunning hanging glaciers cascading down the east face of Paine Grande Mountain (3,050 m.a.s.l.). If you’re lucky, you can hear the thunderous roar of the glacier and the falling water, and it’s also very common to witness an avalanche. Enjoy your packed lunch and a well-deserved rest. After a break, continue on to experience the ultimate reward: the view from the Mirador Británico. Descend the same trail to the Italian camp and then to the Paine Grande refuge.
