ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival to Puerto Natales and accommodation at Factoría Hostel

Day 2: Arrival the Torres del Paine National Park – Trek to the Base Of the Towers

After breakfast at the hostel, a private transport will be waiting for you to take you to the Torres del Paine National Park. You will travel through beautiful landscapes until you reach the main entrance, Laguna Amarga, where you must register with CONAF (park rangers). Here you will continue your trip to the Visitor’s Center. After about a 5 minutes’ walk, you will arrive at Torre Central, where your trekking will begin. Today’s hike begins through the Ascencio Valley, enjoying its extensive forests. During the final ascent, you cross an immense field of giant rocks until you reach one of the most emblematic viewpoints in the world, the famous Base of the Towers lookout. At an altitude of 900 m.a.s.l.m., marvel at the 3 granite towers (north, central and south) and the bright turquoise glacial lake at its feet.

Take beautiful photos and enjoy your box lunch before returning along the same path, where a private transfer will be waiting for will take you back to Puerto Natales.

Day 3: Las Carretas Path –Paine Grande

Today your adventure begins. You will leave early from your hotel in Puerto Natales, a private transfer will be waiting for you to begin your trip to Torres del Paine National Park. You will arrive at the Conaf administration from where your walk along the Las Carretas Path to the Paine Grande Refuge. You will have panoramic views of the Park throughout the entire route and in the last section beautiful views of Lake Pehoé. Upon arriving at Paine Grande after checking in, you can rest and enjoy dinner at the refuge in the afternoon.

Día 4: French Valley Hike

Today’s walk will be a round trip, starting and ending at the Paine Grande refuge, so we recommend starting early!. After having breakfast at the shelter, request your box lunch and get ready for the adventure.

You will travel to the heart of the park bordering the blue waters of Lake Skottsberg. After approximately 2.5 hours of walking, you will arrive at the Italiano camp (park ranger), where you will begin your journey to the French Valley. Climb large rocks and then continue through the forest until you reach the Plateau del Francés (French viewpoint). Here, you will be rewarded with incredible views of Los Cuernos, turquoise glacial lagoons and amazing hanging glaciers that tumble down the east face of Paine Grande Mountain (3,050 m.a.s.l.). If you are lucky, you can hear the loud noise of the glacier and the water falling, and it is also very common to witness an avalanche. Enjoy your box lunch and the well-deserved rest. Descend along the same trail towards the Italian camp and then towards the Paine Grande refuge.

Day 5: Arrival at Grey Refuge

After breakfast, remember to request your box lunch and begin today’s trekking. The hike begins through a narrow, winding valley that leads to Los Patos Lagoon. As you continue advancing you will begin to see parts of the immense Southern Ice Fields, as well as the ice floes of Lake Gray. After passing the sometimes very windy viewpoint, the path descends through a mountainous forest until reaching the Grey Refuge. From here, if you continue walking for about 10 minutes, you will reach the Grey Glacier viewpoint, where you will find yourself face to face with this massif of blue ice.

OPTIONAL:

For an unforgettable view of the Gray Glacier, prepare an extra 3 – 4 hours (round trip) and walk towards the famous hanging bridges. It is by far the best viewpoint of the glacier. In addition to contemplating the impressive ice, you can see the depths of the ravines formed by the rivers and waterfalls that come from the Cordón Olguín.

Day 6: Navigation Grey III– Return to Puerto Natales

Enjoy breakfast in the Refugio Grey dining room and don’t forget to request your box lunch. If you did not visit the Hanging Bridges yesterday, today you can leave very early and get to the first or second bridge, making sure to be back at the refuge at 11:45 to take the Grey III Navigation. During the navigation you will have spectacular views of radiant blue ice, icebergs floating in the grey water, feel the Patagonian wind on your faces, and share a unique and unforgettable experience. You will not only enjoy the view of the glacier, but also views of Cerro Paine Grande, the Paine Massif, forests on the edge of the lake, hills of stratified rocks, and snow-capped peaks that reach the clouds. With luck you will see and hear chunks of ice break off the glacier and fall into the water. When you arrive at Grey Beach you will walk for about 30 to 45 minutes and you will arrive at the Pingo sector, where you will take the transportation to Puerto Natales.
