At 9:00 a.m., we will pick you up from your accommodation in Punta Arenas to begin a journey filled with history and breathtaking landscapes. We head towards the Strait of Magellan Park, located 53 km south of the city. Our first stop will be the Visitor Center, where we will learn more about the history, geography, and biodiversity of this iconic region. Here, you will find interpretive information and an observation deck with panoramic views of the Strait of Magellan, the natural passage connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. We then continue to Fort Bulnes, the first Chilean settlement in the area, founded in 1843. You will explore its historical reconstructions and gain insight into the challenges faced by the first settlers in this remote territory. Next, you will have the opportunity to explore the park’s self-guided trails at your own pace:
To conclude, you will visit Puerto del Hambre (Port Famine), a key historic site where, in the 16th century, an attempt was made to establish the first colony in the region.
Here, you can explore its remnants and uncover the fascinating story of this settlement, whose tragic fate gave it its name. After a day full of discoveries, you will return to Punta Arenas, ending the excursion upon arrival at your accommodation.
