DESCRIPTION

The horseback ride begins at Estancia Pingo Salvaje, located about 32 km north of Puerto Natales on Route 9 North, a road connecting the city to Cerro Castillo and the picturesque area of Laguna Sofía. This exceptional natural setting provides the perfect starting point for exploring the Patagonian landscape. The experience is led by authentic Patagonian baqueanos, experts in both horseback riding and the region itself, ensuring a safe and insightful adventure. These guides are equipped with safety gear, such as communication radios and first aid kits, and share captivating stories about the estancia’s history and local wildlife. Participants will ascend to the Mirador Cóndor, perched 533 meters above sea level, offering sweeping panoramic views of the estancia, the city of Puerto Natales, the majestic Última Esperanza Fjord, and the imposing Sierra Dorotea. From this elevated spot, visitors can also admire Laguna Sofía and the Prat Mountain Range, surrounded by Patagonia’s diverse flora and fauna. The viewpoint is known for its numerous Patagonian condors soaring gracefully in the skies, creating a memorable natural spectacle. Throughout the ride, visitors may encounter local wildlife, including guanacos, foxes, and a rich variety of birds inhabiting the surrounding forests and steppes. This adventure not only fosters a deep connection with nature but also immerses participants in the traditional lifestyle of Patagonia’s early inhabitants. The baqueanos guide visitors along ancient trails, offering an authentic cultural experience. The journey concludes back at Estancia Pingo Salvaje, leaving participants with unforgettable memories of this unique Patagonian landscape.
