ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Puerto Natales and lodging at Hostal Factoría.

Enjoy a free day in Puerto Natales, to do the activities you prefer. Ask about our available excursions.

Day 2: Arrival at Torres del Paine National Park - Hike to Torres Base Viewpoint

After breakfast at the hostel, you must request your box lunch to go to the bus terminal and take the 7:00 am bus (we recommend being at least 10 minutes before departure) to go to Torres del Paine National Park. You will travel through beautiful landscapes until you reach the main entrance, Laguna Amarga, where it is necessary to register with CONAF (park rangers). Here you will transfer to “Transporte Las Torres”, who will take you to the Welcome Center. After about 5 minutes of walking, you will arrive at Torre Central, where your trekking will begin. Today’s hike begins in the Ascencio Valley, enjoying its extensive forests. During the final ascent, you will cross an immense field of giant rocks until you reach one of the most emblematic viewpoints in the world, the famous Base Torres viewpoint. At an altitude of 900 m.a.s.l., marvel at the 3 granite towers (north, central and south) and the shimmering turquoise glacier lake at their feet. Take beautiful pictures and enjoy your box lunch before returning by the same road to take the transfer and the bus that will take you back to Puerto Natales. Estimated time of arrival in Natales, 21:30 hrs.

Day 3: Catamaran - Hike to Grey

After breakfast at the hostel and ordering your box lunch, you must take the regular bus at 7:00 am (remember to arrive at least 10 minutes before departure) that will leave you in Pudeto, and then board the Patagonian Ice catamaran that will sail for about 35 minutes across Lake Pehoe, arriving directly to the Paine Grande refuge. From here begins the hike to Grey.

Begin your journey through a narrow and winding valley that leads to Los Patos Lagoon. As you continue on, you will begin to see parts of the immense Southern Icefields, as well as the ice floes of Grey Lake. After passing the sometimes very windy viewpoint, the trail descends through a mountainous forest until you reach the refuge. From here, if you continue walking for about 10 minutes you will reach the Grey Glacier viewpoint, where you come face to face with one of the arms of the Southern Icefields. Dinner will be served at the refuge between 18:00 and 21:00 hrs.

OPTIONAL

For an unforgettable view of the Grey Glacier, prepare for an extra 3 – 4 hours (round trip) spent heading towards the famous hanging bridges. This is by far the best viewpoint on the glacier. Besides contemplating the impressive ice, you can see the depths of the ravines formed by the rivers and waterfalls that come from the Olguin Range. If you are lucky, you will be able to see the ice falling from the glacier.

Día 4: Grey a Paine Grande

Enjoy breakfast in the Grey refuge dining room and don’t forget to order your box lunch. In case you didn’t get to visit the hanging bridges the previous afternoon, you can take the morning to go and explore the spectacular panoramic views of the Grey Glacier.

Today, you will follow the same trail as yesterday back to Paine Grande. Rest and enjoy dinner in the dining room of the refuge.

Day 5: Hike to the French Valley - Return to Puerto Natales

Today’s hike will be round trip, starting and ending at the Paine Grande refuge, so we recommend an early start! After breakfast at the refuge, order your box lunch and get ready for this last adventure before returning to Puerto Natales. Travel to the heart of the park along the blue waters of Skottsberg Lake. After approximately 2.5 hours of hiking, you will arrive at the Italian camp (park ranger), where you will begin your journey to the French Valley.

Climb over large boulders and then continue through the forest until you reach the Plateau del Francés (French Plateau). Here, you will be rewarded with incredible views of Los Cuernos, turquoise glacier lagoons and amazing hanging glaciers that tumble down the east face of Paine Grande mountain (3,050 m.a.s.l.). If you are lucky, you can hear the thunderous noise of the glacier and falling water, and it is also very common to witness an avalanche. Enjoy your box lunch and a well-deserved rest. Descend the same trail to the Italian camp and then to the Paine Grande refuge.

At 18:35 hrs. you must take the catamaran that will take you back to Pudeto, where you must board the regular bus at 19:15 hrs. to return to Puerto Natales. The approximate time of arrival is 21:30 hrs.
